Capturing two world titles in different weight classes and narrowly missing out on a third within a span of eight months has forced people to notice the level of expertise he possesses in the combative arts.

Now that his quest to simultaneously hold three gold belts was derailed by ONE Bantamweight Champion Bibiano Fernandes at ONE: Iron Will in Bangkok last March, the Vietnamese-Australian can embark on his journey of defending the titles he possesses in the featherweight and lightweight divisions.

His first title defense will be against a familiar foe, Christian Lee, at ONE Championship: Unstoppable Dreams on May 18 in Singapore. These two competitors met two years ago in Macao and Nguyen put Lee to sleep in the first round.

In this interview, Martin Nguyen spoke with John Hyon Ko about moving on from the split decision loss to Bibiano Fernandes, having a rubber match with Marat Gafurov, seeing Christian Lee not accepting the first loss as disrespect, being happier at featherweight compared to cutting down to bantamweight and more.
