[랭크5=고현 기자] 'Undead' Lee Do-Gyeom competed for the first time on home soil at Angel's Fighting Championship 10 on January 28 in Seoul, South Korea and annihilated gritty Japanese veteran Fumiya Sasaki in the first round.
On top of having co-headliner duties, the pressure was magnified for the former URCC featherweight champ to perform since a title shot was looming.
Despite these factors, Lee blasted out the gate with confidence and displayed an improved striking arsenal that Sasaki showed no respect for by keeping his hands low.
After a couple of exchanges, Lee connected with a head kick that staggered his opponent. While Sasaki was retreating to shake off the cobwebs, Lee chased him around for the kill.
'Undead' landed a few left hooks but then decided to reset and that is where the finish came with two straight rights that dropped Sasaki at 1:54 of the first round.
The Wangho MMA representative improves his record to 6-2 and now is set up to fight for the featherweight title against reigning champion Moon Gi-Bum.
During the post-fight interview, Lee said, "This was my first professional fight in Korea and I am grateful for the support. I am a fighter and I want that belt. I have only had contact with Moon Gi-Bum through social media. But we are fighters so let's meet in the cage and see who goes to sleep."
The featherweight title fight is targeted for the next AFC event which is slated in March.
