Notable excerpts from the interview:
John Hyon Ko: "Was there pressure going into that fight [Phoe Thaw] with basically the whole arena against you?" Keanu Subba: "No, it was something that I wanted to experience. It was something I was mentally prepared for. I visualized being there many times and it was an awesome experience to have experienced it live in front of his home town and it was exactly as I visualized so it was like I been there." John Hyon Ko: "Nowadays, a lot of the top level guys they're not just training MMA. They are doing strength and conditioning, recovery processes, dieting. Does your training camp involve all these things?" Keanu Subba: "I'm actually working with this strength and conditioning coach from New Zealand. He works with Dan Hooker, Ev Ting, and all those guys so I specifically hired [Makoto Endo] to give me a program cause in Malaysia, where I did my camp, we don't really have like a strength and conditioning program so I had to reach out." John Hyon Ko: "Your opponent coming up in Jakarta, [Ryogo] Takahashi. He is a Shooto featherweight champ so he is coming with a lot of credentials. A lot of people might not know who he is because he has been fighting in Japan but he is a game opponent. What are your thoughts on him?" Keanu Subba: "On YouTube, you can't really see his fights but on [UFC] Fight Pass I saw a couple of his fights. He is primarily a striker. A veteran, of course, he is currently on a six-fight win streak. He is a good striker but a bit short for this division. Stylistically, my reach and my ability to mix things up will be a big problem for him."
